Read this first. Crypto is the highest-risk asset on this whole site. Prices can fall 70 to 80 percent in a matter of months, and a great many coins go all the way to zero. Only ever put in money you could lose completely without it hurting your life. Nothing on this page is financial advice or a recommendation to buy anything.

Crypto, explained honestly.

Crypto has produced some of the highest returns in history, and some of the most brutal crashes. This page helps you understand how it works and what the risks really are, with live prices shown only so you can see how it behaves. It is learning, never a tip.

Understand it

What crypto actually is

🔗

Money on a shared ledger

Crypto is digital money and assets recorded on a public, shared record called a blockchain, run by a worldwide network rather than a single bank or company.

🎢

Why it swings so hard

It is young and speculative, moved mostly by sentiment and hype, traded 24/7 across the globe, with no earnings or central anchor to value it against.

🥇

Is it "digital gold"?

Some treat Bitcoin as a scarce store of value. The idea is popular but unproven over a full economic cycle. Treat it as a theory, not a fact.

🔑

"Not your keys, not your coins"

Hold crypto on an exchange and you are trusting that company. Holding it in your own wallet gives you control, and full responsibility if you lose the password.

🪙

Bitcoin versus the rest

Bitcoin is the oldest and largest. The thousands of other coins range from serious projects to outright scams, and are usually far riskier.

🤫

It is not free money

Every success story you hear hides many quiet losses. Big past gains do not repeat on demand, and chasing them is how most people get hurt.

Reality check

Bitcoin's biggest crashes

Even the largest, most established coin has lost most of its value more than once. Smaller coins fell much harder, and some never came back. These are historical drops, shown to keep the risk real.

Questions

Good to know

Should I buy crypto?
We cannot tell you that, and we never will. DollarBanao is educational, not advice. Whether crypto suits you depends on your goals, your time frame and how much loss you can handle. Speak with a licensed advisor.
How much should I put in, if anything?
That is a personal decision. A common principle people follow is to only risk money they could lose entirely. We are not recommending any amount.
Why does DollarBanao not project crypto in the calculator?
Because crypto's past returns are so extreme and so dependent on the exact start date that projecting them forward would be misleading and would look like a promise. We show its history here instead, with the risks attached.
Where do these live prices come from?
From a public market data feed, refreshed when you load the page. Prices move constantly, so treat them as a snapshot for learning.
